On 26 August 2006, 27 students and their parents from Hong Kong visited UIC. As it was the second day of the Four Points Gala and Freshmen Registration at UIC, the atmosphere here was enthusiastic and exciting.

After visiting a sample of the dormitories, all the visitors gathered at the Chinese restaurant of International Centre to have lunch. Dr. Kwan, an Associate Professor and Consultant on Public Relations and Student Admissions, had lunch with the Hong Kong visitors and he answered many questions from the students and their parents during the lunch. Because the visitors were eager to know more about UIC but the time of their schedule was tight, Dr. Kwan made a brief introduction to UIC after lunch at the restaurant.

At 2:30 p.m., the visitors hurried to the Li Yun building to listen to the speech of Professor Kwok, the Executive Vice-president of UIC. The topic of his speech was "Human Resource Growth under the Current of Globalization and Localization". His point of view was both fresh and creative. He analyzed the developing trends of society and in what ways students can fit themselves into this development. He stated that people who possess the features of globalization and localization at the same time are the people needed in current times and also in the future. UIC is the ideal place to train such talents.

After the excellent speech, some of the students were very interested in UIC and applied to study at UIC immediately. Thus there were interviews afterwards. Dr. Kwan and Ms. Jane Cheung, the Office Manager of the UIC Hong Kong Office, interviewed the students. Everything went smoothly and, after the interviews, the visitors went back to Hong Kong with an abundant harvest.
