On 22 July 2006, HKBU Council members and Court Members from Hong Kong gathered together in UIC to learn more about the university and its development.
The Executive Vice-President Prof. Edmund Kwok, Acting Academic Registrar Dr Ricky Hou and other colleagues warmly welcomed the visitors and briefed them on the university's progress, the current status of UIC's construction as well as its long-term development plan. The Executive Vice-President said that education should be a project of spiritual enlightenment, which is open, interactive and multi-dimensionally inspirational. And one of the central beliefs of UIC is to be pragmatic, open and creative, clinging close to the core values of an education that is humanistic, student-oriented, and committed to be the development of both the national and the international community.
The visitors later toured the new construction of UIC with the guidance of Project Coordinator Susan Liu. They highly praised the well-arranged construction progress and paid their great respect to the hard-working workers meanwhile. It was noted that the first part of UIC's new campus construction program would be completed at the end of this September. The second part would be completed this December. And the entire construction would be finished by April of next year.
