During the past summer vacation, many UIC students took the initiative to intern in different fields and found their own direction from practical experiences.

Risk Management Consulting Intern

Qin Lei entered the field of risk management consulting as an intern this summer after interviews and competition. During the internship, Qin Lei improved his skills in industry research and data analysis. In addition, he learned to demonstrate professional attitude and behaviour. Qin Lei asked himself to stay humble for constant self-improvement to combat new challenges.

Event Operating Intern in ByteDance; Product Managing Intern of IQIYI

Zhang Ying took two internships during the summer vacation. She improved her fast-learning abilities from the internship. In ByteDance, the first company, she learned more about internet companies and became interested in them. When it came to the end of the internship, Zhang Ying applied for another internship at iQiyi and became a product managing intern. After encountering obstacles led by unfamiliar terms, she researched materials for better adaptation at work. In the end, she had summarised her methodology at work.

When participating in producing nucleic acid detection reagents, Wanxin witnessed how the staff worked in protective clothing to experiment in a low temperature to improve the validity of detection reagents. She was touched by how devoted the team was. At the end of this summer, Wanxin would change her original plan and look for more opportunities in molecular biology.

Video Production and Screenwriter Intern

Lu Yan'er got the job information from an email sent by the Career Development Office (CDO) at UIC. Her responsibility mainly contained video shooting, editing, as well as scriptwriting. During the past two months, she has participated in the production of more than ten short videos. The works were published on social media platforms later. As a result, she found more interest in the film and television industries.

Channel Expansion Intern in Cosmetic Department

Tao Yi was planning for her further study in the field of public relations and advertising. Therefore, when filtering internship opportunities, she combined this academic plan and her interest in cosmetics. Tao Yi was mainly responsible for assisting in running the new media platforms and helping in events. The opportunity to understand how the industry operates systematically has strengthened her determination for further exploration in related fields.
