Since 22 August, more than 1,800 new students have arrived at UIC. The students came in batches for registration, with the excitement of a liberal arts experience.
New students arrive
This year's new students have registered in batches according to the appointment time to minimise risk. At the beginning of August, to more accurately know the locations of new students before returning to college, UIC conducted a thorough investigation of all new students and asked them to take a 14-day health check-in. At the same time, the peer mentors of each MCP group contacted the new students in advance to form a WeChat group to answer their questions.

Before entering the college, the new students must undergo health code inspections and temperature checks and hold a valid 48-hour nucleic acid test negative certificate. In addition, UIC prepared disposable masks, hand sanitisers, and medical kits for new students to use.

To help provide convenience to the new students, many second-year, third-year and fourth-year students, staff members volunteered to help and came together to support the new arrivals.

The college also arranged more shuttle buses at the local Tangjiawan railway station to bring students. Also, UIC set shuttle vehicles to shuttle between the college entrance and the dormitory area in the college to facilitate new students to carry their luggage. In addition, there were 43 resident student tutors to help new students and introduce the management regulations and living facilities to the new students.
