Students utilise holidays to explore Zhuhai

Published on 12 October 2021

During the National Holidays, many UIC students chose to explore the beautiful coastal city of Zhuhai.

Discovering the dynamic Zhuhai

Zhang Wenbing, a first-year student enrolled in the broad-based admission in Business Administration, decided to visit some famous spots of Zhuhai, such as the Zhuhai Grand Theatre and Beishan Village. He even went to the airshow during the break.

Wenbing described Zhuhai as a mixture of the ancient and modern. Moreover, this city is dynamic, which provides many opportunities for the young generation. Based on this advantage, Zhang plans to get an internship and even start his own business in Zhuhai to strengthen his practical skills and enhance his academic knowledge.

Taking advantage of the international event

Feng Jianying, a second-year Media and Communication Studies student, applied as a volunteer in the airshow in Zhuhai. Due to her excellent competence in English, she was responsible for communicating with foreign exhibitors and visitors from home and abroad.

Feng Jianying worked as a volunteer in Airshow China.

Jianying remembers touring with a foreign visitor from Chilean Embassy in China. The guest asked many professional questions about aeroplanes. Feng managed to interpret and explain the details, which made her proud of herself. Thanks to the day-to-day English conversations carried out at UIC, Jianying doesn’t think communication in English is an arduous task. She is also proud to be involved in this exciting event and witness Zhuhai as an international city.

Using photos to tell stories with the sea

The seaside is one of the biggest attractions of  Zhuhai, which is something worth recording in Jiajia’s eyes. During the holidays, she went to Wailingding island to enjoy the beauty of the sea.

Liu Jiajia, a second-year Cinema and Television student, loves taking photos to record her life. With her knowledge in photography, Jiajia tried to express her emotions through her lens and reach out to the viewers.

Protecting mangrove forest as a volunteer

UIC United Innovation Charity Club (UICC) has developed a well-bonded relationship with Qi’ao island’s mangrove forest conservation area. With the rise in tourists during National Holiday,  the student club organised volunteers to offer their help for touring and managing.

One of the people in charge of this act is a second-year Media and Communication Studies student, Xu Kangna. She said this is an excellent opportunity for students to contribute to the conservation area and learn about the mangrove forest.

Having joined the project team for a year, second-year Food Science and Technology student Shi Mingxuan said that volunteering requires persistence and staying true to the original intention. She’s very proud of what she has been part of.
