UIC graduate representative He Aien delivers a speech

Good afternoon, teachers, families, friends, and fellow graduates,

I'm He Aien from the Food Science and Technology Programme. It's my great honour to speak on behalf of the graduates from the Faculty of Science and Technology. Like most of you, I am able to stand here today to receive my diploma because of my family, supervisors and teachers, friends, and classmates. I owe them a vote of thanks.

Forty-five months ago, the Class of 2019 arrived in Zhuhai, full of expectations to start our new undergraduate life. Today, we are here to harvest the results of our efforts.

No one can say that life as a student at UIC is a walk in the park or having parties. I have seen the sunrise at six o'clock in the morning and the sky full of stars at midnight; I can't forget the packed and brightly lit library before each final exam; I can't forget the days when I did experiments in the labs on the fifth floor of T8 until closing; And I also can't forget the lively basketball court full of sweat and shouts of cheering.

I am grateful to UIC for providing me with a liberal, inclusive, and international learning platform. The four-year English teaching mode has greatly enhanced my ability to adapt to the English teaching environment and my English proficiency. It has laid a solid foundation for my future study abroad. At the same time, the teaching content of UIC is also in line with internationalization, full of team spirit and communication skills. In addition, UIC also encourages us to develop in all aspects, not just a variety of clubs and campus activities, but also the curriculum reflects UIC's philosophy of liberal arts education and whole-person education. During the short academic period at UIC, we are required to arrange our time allocation for various tasks in different disciplines and to master the work-life balance. I would like to thank UIC for having an international teaching platform, excellent faculty, and abundant social practice opportunities for students, all of which make me more competitive when applying for graduate schools overseas.

Four years go by in a flash. Today is the end of my story with 2000 Jin Tong Road, which began in the fall of 2019 and ended in the summer of 2023. Thanks for these four wonderful and fulfilling years, and thank you to everyone who accompanied me along the way! It is the pride and luck of my life to have my young years spent at UIC as a member of Food Science and Technology. On this memorable day, allow me to wish our alma mater another great year and another great chapter! I wish all the teachers good health and a productive academic career. And to all the graduates, a bright future full of happiness and achievement.

Thank you!
