Professors, faculty members, distinguished guests, and fellow graduates of Class 2024,
Good morning. I'm Li Xiang from the Accounting Programme. It is with great honour that I stand before you today as one of the graduating students of the Class of 2024. Today marks a significant milestone for all of us gathered here, a culmination of hard work, dedication, and the countless experiences that have shaped our journey at UIC.
From the very first day, UIC promised us more than just theoretical knowledge; it offered us a gateway to a world of diverse perspectives and opportunities. The Faculty of Business and Management, with its rigorous curriculum and rich learning resources, has prepared us not only for the challenges of the business world but for life's many complexities.
Our journey at UIC was also enriched by its whole person education and general education. This philosophy has allowed us to broaden our horizons and engage in various stimulating activities, from Mindfulness and Tai Chi to volunteering and high-table dinners. These experiences have taught us valuable life skills and helped us to develop well-rounded characteristics.
Personally, my most cherished treasures from UIC are the connections I've made with friends and teachers from various backgrounds. When I was in moments of doubt, it was their diverse perspectives that guided me, helping me to see the bigger picture and make informed decisions. It was during these discussions about future careers and life choices that I found clarity and the courage to pursue my passion for accounting. Competitions like the L'Oréal Brandstorm, the HSBC Case Competition, and the CFA Research Challenge were not just contests, they were platforms that challenged us to apply our knowledge and sharpen our skills in real-world scenarios.
To our professors and all faculty, thank you for your consistent support and guidance. To our parents, thank you for your encouragement and care for us. And to my fellow graduates, thank you for your perseverance and bravery to move forward. Together, we have not only achieved academic success but grown into responsible individuals capable of making valuable contributions to society.
As we embark on the next chapter of our life, the resilience and insights gained at UIC will guide us through turbulent moments. Remember, success is not defined by immediate outcomes but by the depth of our commitment and the integrity of our actions. Trust in yourselves, embrace life's rich opportunities, and continue to strive for excellence in all your endeavours.
