Promoting students' wellbeing

Published on 29 November 2022

While moderate stress could motivate our studies and work, too much pressure could be overwhelming mentally and physically. At UIC, many events, courses and support are provided to help students achieve a balanced life.

Be more aware of what’s going on

Students can learn to deal with stress, anxiety, and other mental problems through health lectures given by experts.

Previous health lectures covered topics about sleep and pressure

Release stress in sports

The PE courses offered at UIC cover ball games, swimming, aerobics, yoga, Chinese Health Qigong, etc., and are open for free course selection each semester. Teachers encourage students to integrate sports into life after class rather than teaching them the basic skills of the sport.

Improve resilience in the Whole Person Education

The emotional Intelligence (EI) Course and Adversity Management (AM) Course also help students understand their emotions and improve their ability to cope with adversity.

In the EI course, students can learn strategies to build healthy habits and cultivate self-awareness and empathy through meditation, interpersonal management, etc.

Students learn to cooperate in the EI course

In the AM course, students enhance their abilities in collaborative tasks as well as work independently. They adapt to unfamiliar situations and conquer psychological obstacles during the three-day outdoor camp.

In one task of the AM course, students have to make rafts and compete against other teams

You can always speak out

PGCC always welcome students to drop in. Professional counselling services are provided, and students can talk about anything that bothers them, including stress and other emotions.
