UIC PhD students excel in academic platforms home and abroad

UIC's PhD students of the Faculty of Science and Technology have harvested fruitful results in academic conferences and forums at home and abroad.

At the 19th International Conference on Mobility, Sensing and Networking (MSN 2023), a team led by the second-year PhD student Wu Shangrui of the Department of Computer Science and instructed by Prof Wang Tian won the Best Student Paper Award. The awarding paper, "EKDF: An Ensemble Knowledge Distillation Framework for Robust Collaborative Inference on Heterogeneous Edge Devices", presents an innovative framework EKDF.

MSN 2023 was sponsored by IEEE and focused on all research areas related to mobility, sensing, and networking, as well as their corresponding systems and applications.

In the 7th China Wetland Forum, Wang Xiuzhi, the fourth-year PhD student of the Department of Life Sciences, gave an academic report on the positive management to accelerate the recovery of wetland ecosystems with Hengqin Erjingwan Wetland Park as an example, instructed by Dr Tsim SiuTai. The report was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Student Reporting Award.

The 7th China Wetland Forum was organised by the Wetland Ecology Professional Committee of the Ecological Society of China, with nearly 300 experts and scholars to discuss wetland ecological issues.
