UIC students achieved a record-breaking number of awards at the 15th Blue Bridge Cup National Software and Information Technology Professionals Competition. Lyu Luyao and Wang Menghan from the Department of Computer Science won national second prizes, respectively, while Qi Xiangru, Zhao Haoran, and Peng Jiayin each secured a national third prize. UIC students also excelled at the provincial level with a total of 37 prizes, including seven first prizes, 13 second prizes, and 17 third prizes.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, the Blue Bridge Cup is a competition that serves as a platform for talent cultivation and selection involving government, enterprises and industries. The contest has been included in the “Ranking of National Colleges and Universities in Academic Competitions” published by the China Association of Higher Education for four consecutive years. The competition tests competitors' skills in computer programming, network technology, database, algorithm design and more using different programming languages and categories. This time, UIC students participated mainly in the software category, which examines skills in programming and algorithms.

To better motivate students' passion, the Department of Computer Science organised LeetCode training camp during the summer and winter holidays. In addition, to bring together algorithm enthusiasts from various programmes, it also formed a team named UIC-ACM. The team members performed well in this competition and achieved six provincial first prizes and five national awards.
