Taking oath! Inauguration ceremony of student organisation officers

Activities designed for students this year

On 16 October 2024, the inauguration ceremony of the student organisation officer for the 2024-2025 academic year is held in UIC. During the ceremony, the representatives of the student organisations solemnly pledged to uphold their original intention to promote the development of student organisations and contribute to campus cultural activities.

In this regard, UIC President Prof Chen Zhi said in his speech that UIC offers abundant important learning opportunities for students after class, and its student organisations provide an excellent platform for students to develop leadership.

Last academic year, 465 activities were organised by 92 student organisations in different fields, attracting a large number of students' participation.

As the new batch of student organisation officers were inaugurated, Prof Chen told the student leaders to "embrace the challenge and enjoy the fun of serving others", and uphold the spirit to serve the community and the country. He also reminded them to shoulder their responsibilities and be a bridge connecting the university and students.

To make students' life in the school more colourful and convenient is the vision of the new Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Student Union, Jia Chengyi, who had accumulated plenty of experience in activity organisation. "Adequate communication can narrow the information gap and improve efficiency," he said.

Interest clubs are also an important part of student organisations. The ceremony also presented awards to the star clubs to recognise their contributions and encourage more to continuously diversify the campus culture.

The Cantonese Club and the Art & Show Drama Association won the five-star interest club title.

The Cantonese Club, which currently has nearly 100 members, has been rated as a five-star interest club for three consecutive years. President of the club Xie Xinge said thanks to the communication and coordination between the leaders and members, the Cantonese Club has become a warm family. "We continue to strive for diversity and innovation, and organise more activities to attract students," added Xie.

Another five-star interest club, Art & Show Drama Association, has also been recognised as a five-star club many times. Its president, Guo Yutong pointed out that the award was won because of its well-organised structure and its responsible and enthusiastic members. "We are willing to strive to make things happen, and we are united," she said.

There were 39 interest clubs participating in the selection of star interest club totally. Besides two five-star clubs, six four-star and eight three-star were also selected according to the features and impacts of their activities and their administrative management.
