UIC held the Presidents Forum and Annual Meeting of the Alliance for Technology, Innovation, and Talent Development in Western Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on 22 December. Member institutes discussed the development of a talent hub on the west coast of the GBA.

Deputy director of Guangdong’s Department of Science and Technology, Liang Qinru, said in his speech that the Alliance could take advantage of provincial policies to advance the work on talent training and technological innovation.

UIC Vice President (Research and Development), Prof Jia Weijia, said that UIC had spared no effort in introducing outstanding talents and improving discipline construction. He believes that solidarity would help the Alliance become a hub for scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation.

Chairman of the Alliance and Rector of the University of Macau, Prof Song Yonghua, summarised the achievements of the Alliance in academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and talent training in 2021, and reported the 2022 plan.

At his keynote speech during the Presidents Forum, UIC Vice President (Academic) Prof Huang Huaxiong, spoke of his views on introducing talents to Zhuhai and Macao, before sharing UIC’s practice in building a strong faculty team and cultivating brilliant students.

Vice President and Provost of Southern University of Science and Technology, Prof Zhang Dongxiao; Pro-Rector of City University of Macau, Prof Ip Kuai Peng; Vice President of Foshan University, Zeng Xin’an; and Vice President of Zhaoqing University, Xiao Qiqing, also gave keynote speeches.





UIC Vice President (Administration) Prof Mao Yaqing hosts the Presidents Forum
The Alliance for Technology, Innovation, and Talent Development in Western Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was founded in 2019, jointly initiated by Macau University, UIC and Wuyi University. Till now, there are 19 members of universities and colleges, including Macao Polytechnic Institute, Macau University of Science and Technology, and Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai Campus).
