UIC Environmental Science Programme (ENVS) held the first Alumni Research Forum in November 2021. Twelve graduates working or researching in different fields were invited to share their stories, research directions and achievements.

According to Dr Tsim Siu-tai, Programme Director of ENVS, around 30 ENVS graduates chose to pursue PhD degrees or work in research. Nine have obtained a doctoral degree, and five are teachers or researchers at well-known higher education institutions. UIC was the starting point of their scientific research.

Wang Yuan, who graduated in 2011, is now a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital. He has published 14 SCI papers, in five of which he was the first author.
Another graduate from the Class of 2011, Dong Shengkun, is an Associate Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University. His research findings have been applied in the US.

Guo Jiaxin, who graduated in 2014, is a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong. He has 29 SCI papers and was selected as a research talent by HK Innovation and Technology Commission.

Since its establishment in 2005, the ENVS programme has cultivated over 470 alumni. 92% of the fresh graduates in 2021 chose to opt for postgraduate studies in renowned higher institutions at home or abroad, and 94% of which have entered the world's top 50 universities.

ENVS alumni have diverse development paths. After graduation, they chose to work in environmental engineering, environmental management, sustainability management of enterprises, biodiversity protection, education, green energy, public health, biotechnology, product R&D, etc.
Lin Kaili, who graduated in 2014, is a lecturer at the School of Public Health in Guangzhou Medical University.

Chang Ze, who graduated in 2015, serves as an engineer at The Pearl River Hydraulic Research Institute.

Wang Xiuzhi, who graduated in 2017, is a PhD student at the programme jointly set up by HKBU and UIC.
