Party Secretary of Zhuhai Guo Yuanqiang paid his first visit to UIC on the morning of 24 May. While being shown around the college, he showed great interest in the Art Hill, a Whole Person Education experiential learning base.

UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai told Mr Guo UIC upholds liberal arts education to groom well-rounded students, thereby aiming to diversify China's tertiary education. The college's philosophy has been strongly supported by the Zhuhai government, resulting in the granting of a plot of land for the college to build a new campus. The new campus is under construction and some of its buildings are expected to come into use next year.

Mr Guo squeezed in a visit to the House of Shedao (Chinese archery) and the House of Qin (guqin, Chinese ancient musical instrument) despite his tight schedule. He praised students shooting arrows into the target, before listening to the melodies of famous old musical piece Guangling San performed by another student.
