Following a clean sweep victory last year, UIC teams again achieved good results at the Qualification Programme (QP) Case Analysis Competition in Guangzhou on 6 December. A team from the Accounting Programme placed third, and another team consisting of students from the Programmes of Culture, Creativity and Management and Finance received a merit team award.

Organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the QP Case Analysis Competition is an advanced accounting contest in mainland China. It requires students to demonstrate professional knowledge, leadership, analytical skills, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
In the first round, 429 contestants from more than 50 universities were required to submit an executive summary with financial analysis of a business plan about the condition and strategies of Speed Easter Limited. Thirty shortlisted teams then presented elaborate reports in the second round, with the top eight teams chosen to compete in the final.
A total of 30 teams from the Division of Business and Management (DBM) participated in the contest, two of which managed to reach the top eight.

The Dean of DBM, Prof Stella Cho, congratulated the winning teams and extended her thanks to the teaching faculty advisors.
UIC students have been participating well in the contest since it was firstly held in mainland China in 2009. One team won the second place and another team received a Merit Team Award in the first year. In 2010, teams got the first place and a Merit Team Award. In 2011, a Merit Team Award was awarded. In 2012, one won the first place, another followed as runner-up, and the third team was awarded a Merit Team Award. In 2013, teams gained the first and second places, the Best Presenter Award, the Best Written Report Award and the Merit Team Award. In 2014, UIC teams placed top three, in addition to receiving the Best Presenter Award.
