Hispanic culture returned to UIC between 22 and 27 April. The annual Spanish Culture Week organised a unique activity each day of the week, taking the students along an exotic European adventure.
Student-made Spanish culture projects were showcased in A Zone for the Spanish Art Exhibition, including vibrantly designed tiles and graphic posters. Viewers were able to find themselves further connected with a culture of another country.
Hundreds of roses were sold at F Zone for the Spanish Valentine’s Day (La Diada de Sant Jordi) on 23 April, as students exchanged roses to express their affection for one another on the Spanish holiday of love.
Senior Lecturer Roser Cervera made students hungry when they were introduced to various kinds of food and drinks from Spain and were taught how to make “Pa amb tomàquet” (bread with tomato rubbed over and seasoned with olive oil and salt), a typical North-eastern Spanish dish.
