On January 14th, the 9th UIC Board Meeting was held in the new Council Chamber. Many distinguished guests including Prof. Xu Jialu, Vice Chairman of 10th NPC and Chairman of the UIC Council, Mr. Wilfred Wong, Chairman of the HKBU Council, Prof. Albert Chan, President of HKBU, Prof. Dong Qi, Deputy Vice President of BNU, Prof. Chen Guangju, Vice President of BNU, Prof. Tang Tao, Associate Vice President of HKBU, Dr. Simon Wong, Dean of School of Continuing Education of HKBU, Prof. Ng Ching-Fai, President of UIC, Prof. Huang Zhenzhong, Legal Counselor of BNU, Prof. Zee Sze Yong, Council Secretary and Vice President of UIC, Vice President Zhang Cong, Academic Dean Zhang Genfa, Mr. Nelson Chan, Managing Director of FPD, Ms. Lilian Li, , Assistant to the President and Director of SO were present at the meeting.

The Council Chamber was named after Prof. Xu Jialu, co-founder of UIC, who was quite pleasantly surprised.

“During the past seven years, I, with every one of you, witnessed UIC’s development, just like a mother seeing her baby healthily grow from an infant to a child. It was really a huge joy. I am confident that with the full cooperation between BNU and HKBU, and with the support of Zhuhai Government, UIC’s future will definitely be brighter. I hope in the coming days UIC will play a significant role in communication and cooperation between mainland China and Hong Kong, in the development of the Pearl River Delta in educational reform, and in cultivation of more talents”, said Prof. Xu Jialu.

On the same day, a simple opening ceremony for UIC Staff and Student Activity Center located at Zone A was held. Prof. Ng Ching-Fai gave a short speech and thanked every council member for his support.
