Prof. Stella Cho, Dean of Division of Business and Management, has several public roles in addition to her position at UIC. For years she has served as a council member of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Last December Prof. Cho was awarded the honor of "100 Outstanding Chinese Women Entrepreneurs" by Chinese NGO organizations. She was also elected a member of the 2011 Election Committee (Accountancy Subsector) of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, a legal arm empowered to elect the next Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Government. Just in early February, she was elected as the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians. "But", said Prof. Cho, "my most important job is here and it is the most rewarding."

Prof. Cho joined UIC in September 2008. Among business and accountancy majors she placed professional skills, career development and placement on the top of her agenda. She secured internships and employment opportunities for students from her own social network and those of her colleagues. She encouraged students to participate in national and international competitions in their chosen fields, often with satisfactory results. In 2011 she established a professional training center for students and invited leaders in industry and government to be advisors.

Placement of DBM graduates in the past three years include major accounting firms, banks and multi-national enterprises. Many went abroad to pursue further studies in famous universities. While Prof. Cho will continue to strengthen business relations and contact with the private sector, the division will devote more resources in its graduate programs in the years to come.
