During October 22nd to 31st, a UIC delegation led by Prof. Ng Ching-Fai, President of United International College (UIC), visited eight well-known colleges and universities in the United States, including five liberal arts colleges. “This visit not only deepened the mutual cooperation with current partners but also built up new relationship with other universities and colleges,” said President Ng. UIC will sign an agreement on faculty exchange program with Minnesota Private Colleges Council (MPCC), and increase our student exchange programs.

The delegation first came to St. Catherine University, where President Ng along with other administrators of UIC met the Chairmen of MPCC and the presidents from nine of its member colleges. Both sides agreed to sign a memorandum on faculty exchange program in the coming 5th Sino-American Liberal Arts Conference. St. Catherine University and Minneapolis College of Art and Design would join UIC in student exchange programs.

During the visit, President Ng had a conversation with a UIC exchange student who was studying at Augsburg College. He was delighted to see the student had adjusted so well in the USA. According to IDO, UIC had established partnership with seven MPCC colleges for several years. There have been around twenty UIC students studied for one or two semesters in MPCC membership colleges. Many more UIC students took part in short-term summer programs to visit and study in Minnesota.

The liberal arts colleges UIC delegation visited included Augsburg College, Hamline University, St. Catherine University, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and Oberlin College. In Ohio State, Oberlin College is often rated one of the best private colleges in the US. Its music conservatory division is the oldest in America.

As one of UIC’s new partner colleges, St. Catherine University is a renowned women’s college in liberal arts and professional education. The other new partner college, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, has an even longer history in fostering professional artists and designers.
