On March 13th, the opening ceremony for the joint HKBU & UIC Beijing Office was held in Beijing Wuzhou Grand Hotel in Beijing.
The guests who attended the ceremony included Prof. Xu Jialu, former Vice-Chairman of the National People's Congress and Chairman of the UIC Council, Wu Qidi, Vice-Minister of Education, Wang Guoqiang, Vice-Minister of health, Zhang Xiuqin, Director of the Ministry's International Cooperation and Exchanges Department, Wang Yingwei, Chairman of Hong Kong Baptist University Council; Liu Chuansheng, Chairwoman of the Council of Beijing Normal University, and Prof. C. F. Ng, President of Hong Kong Baptist University. Professor Xu Jialu, President C. F. Ng, and Mr. Zhang Haoming, Deputy Director of the Ministry's Student Affairs Department gave speeches to welcome the 300 guests attending the ceremony.
The office is located at Huibin Building, Chao Yang District in Beijing. Ms Tian Yuan, Director of Hong Kong Baptist University's Chinese Affairs Office said the objectives of the office were:
First, to attract more qualified students for the two universities;Second, to provide a convenient channel for both parents and students to interact with them; Third, to develop cooperative programs with other universities in Beijing;
