Jan 16, 2008 - When UIC Executive Vice-President Prof. Kwok Siu Tong signed a cooperation agreement with representatives from 21 key secondary schools, the Alliance of Secondary Schools was officially established.
Summoned by UIC, the Alliance aims to enhance the cooperation in education and student enrollment between UIC and secondary schools in provinces where UIC recruits students. Members of the Alliance are entitled to recommend a certain number of their graduates to take the enrollment examination offered by UIC and preference will be given to them so far as their achievement meets the enrollment requirements.
The Alliance will also promote the cooperation and interaction between UIC and member schools. Activities such as experiential camps for secondary school students, which will offer opportunities for students from the member schools to have a try on the Whole Person Education and Four-Points Education models at UIC, will be arranged during vacations.
Memberships of the Alliance are given to secondary schools that were nominated by UIC students and that have passed the evaluation by UIC. The first 21 members of the Alliance are key secondary schools from Guangdong, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Chongqing, and Guizhou.
Before the signing ceremony, school principals took the opportunity together to have a seminar entitled "The Link between Secondary Education and Innovative Tertiary Education." Mr. Wu Xiangming, Deputy Director of the Zhuhai Municipal Department of Education attended the seminar and said in his opening address that the resent development of UIC reflected a balance of scale and structure, of quality and efficiency.
