December 19th 2006 was the launching day of UIC’s 【Non-Smoking Campaign】. Our “Non Smoking Campus”is one of the ideals of UIC and is also an important part of the Whole-person Education. UIC always attaches importance to the healthy development of the body-mind and sense of a protected environment for both teachers and students. The 【Non-Smoking Campaign】launching ceremony marked the beginning of a series of anti-smoking activities.
The beginning stage of the 【Non Smoking Campaign】 aims to raise attention to the anti-smoking concept, as well as to enhance the knowledge of the harms of smoking. Exhibition boards, nominated posters and slogans were also put on display besides the【Non-Smoking Campaign】banner.
The launching ceremony was simple but grand. Prof. Kwok, Executive Vice-President of UIC, gave a brief introduction to the campaign and displayed the 【Non-Smoking Campaign】banner. Prof. Wang, Vice-President and Dr. ZHANG, Academic Registrar, awarded the winners of the ‘slogans competition’and ‘poster design competition’. The anti-smoking stickers and leaflets were given to all participants in this ceremony by volunteers, and, later, distributed at student dormitories.
