On 29 August 2006, some 50 university students from Singapore Polytechnic led by Ms. Han Lih Lih, the Deputy Director of the School of Business, visited UIC. This is the first time to have university students visiting UIC from foreign countries.

At noon, some staff of UIC went to the International Centre to meet up with the Singaporean guests, including Dr. Ricky Hou, the Deputy Register & Assistant Professor of Computer Science, Prof. Paul Hockings, the Director of the office of Whole Person Education and Acting Dean of Humanities & Social Sciences, Ms. Maria Shing, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office, Mr. James Lam, who is responsible for the Whole Person Education Programme, and Ms. Anna Li, the Deputy Director of our International Section.

The Singaporean guests came around 12:30 p.m. and then had lunch with the staff and some students from UIC. After they settled down, Prof. Hockings made a brief presentation to welcome the guests. He introduced the educational approach and the divisions of the departments of UIC. He also mentioned the teaching feature of English language use and Whole Person Education at UIC, which attracted the Singaporean guests very much.

During the lunch, Dr. Ricky Hou exchanged gifts with Ms. Han Lih Lih. When Ms Anna Li talked about cooperation between Singapore Polytechnic and UIC, both sides expressed the intention of establishing a relationship of cooperation. The Singaporean students and the UIC students also exchanged their point of views on the fields of study, life, and employment for prosperity. All of the students have learned a lot from this communication.
