IoT scholars gather at UIC to look to future

An Internet of Things (IoT) session was conducted during the 6th International Symposium on Emerging Technologies for Education (SETE 2021) at UIC on 12 November. Scholars from Zhejiang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Shandong University, Tianjin University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, University of Macao and other higher institutes were invited to give speeches about the future of the IoT.

UIC's Vice President (Research and Development), Prof Jia Weijia, gave a welcome speech. He said the coordination and innovation between IoT and Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, and cloud computing would contribute to building China into a manufacturing and cyber powerhouse. He hoped that this forum could bring more development opportunities to UIC in IoT, AI, and big data fields.

Executive Dean of School of Computer Science, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Prof Ma Huadong, spoke on the challenges and explorations of IoT research.

Dean of School of Computer Science and Technology at Shandong University, and member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Prof Cheng Xiuzhen, focused on IoT in her speech. According to her, the security, credibility and intelligence of the IoT System are based on the integration of blockchains and IoT.

Director of Computer and Information Science Programme, the University of Macao, Prof Gong Zhiguo, presented an analysis on opened social media data, based on recent search results of Spatio-Temporal Data Mining.

Q&A session

Prof Qiu Tie from College of Computing and Intelligence, Tianjin University, concentrated on the Robust Adaptive Control of the Massive Internet of Things.

Prof He Shibo from College of Control Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, demonstrated how the structure of multilayer networks influences the Dynamic multilayer networks.

Associate Dean of School of Computer Science and Technologies, BIT, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Prof Liu Chi, presented his latest academic results on site.
