UIC is a cradle for all kinds of dreams and possibilities, attracting students from various countries and regions, including the US, Korea, India, Malaysia, Ukraine and more. We have invited four international students who won scholarships in the previous academic year to share their stories at UIC.
Ana Cristina Rios Powell: For love of film
Ana Cristina Rios Powell is a second-year student from Panama of UIC's Cinema and Television (CTV) Programme.

After attending online classes for the first academic year, she came to UIC in November 2022 and won the full admission scholarship for international students at UIC with excellent performance.
Ana said courses at UIC are professional and practical, and she had adapted to the new environment smoothly with the help of teachers and fellow students.

Interested in Chinese culture, she hoped to visit more cities in China and learn more about the country in the future.
Andrea Isabelle Andrade: UIC is my best choice
Andrea Isabelle Andrade from the Philippines is a first-year student of UIC's English Language and Literature Studies (ELLS) Programme.

Attracted by UIC's English teaching environment, she came here to pursue her dreams of becoming a book publisher.
Andrade said she was impressed by the friendly environment at UIC, and she enjoyed the teaching methods which encouraged students to think and explore.

Alesia Tykhonova: Knowing China from diverse angles
Alesia Tykhonova from Ukraine is a first-year student of UIC's Applied Psychology Programme, who came to China with her family last year.

Alesia said life at UIC was comfortable and convenient, and the campus was vibrant with diverse cultures while maintaining Chinese characteristics.

Laxmi Khatri: A college life I yearn for
Laxmi Hemant Khatri is from India and she is a first-year student of UIC's CTV Programme.

Laxmi said that she had hoped to study in China and was attracted by UIC's beautiful campus environment and liberal arts education.
She explored the campus thoroughly and found many perfect spots for study. She added that UIC's student evaluation system encouraged them to be all-rounded, which she admired much.

Laxmi attended various campus activities, immersing herself in the vibrant atmosphere of UIC, and she planned to join some clubs this semester.
